“We’re leveraging the very latest technologies in IoT and AI to make it easier for users to make informed decisions.”

SAIM Welcomes New Director of IoT

IoT drives the connection between the physical and digital worlds. An effective IoT solution is critical to SAIM, as bringing in real-time signals from different fuel storage equipment provides users with a more wholistic picture. Not only does it share the larger view, but it also allows users to take a step farther and analyze data to improve operations and prevent issues and failures.

As the Director of IoT, John is looking forward to the positive impact he can make using today’s constantly evolving technology and his background as a software engineer.

“I’m particularly excited to use data coming from onsite equipment to create AI neuro-net models [i.e., machine learning] to do things like predict failures and take preventative maintenance measures in a more intelligent way,” he says.

John joins SAIM from Growlink, where he built an IoT platform that created control solutions for industrial greenhouses. He is excited to be back in the energy/fueling industry — in college, he studied energy efficiency and modeling energy systems — especially at this time of growth when there is a lot of change with cloud platforms and leveraging technology to find or improve solutions.

At SAIM, we are working to make the IoT deployment process more easily repeated, packaged and scaled. As John puts it, “We’re leveraging the very latest technologies in IoT and AI to make it easier for users to make informed decisions.”

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

To not fear hearing the answer ‘no’ to a question. If someone says no to a question, you haven’t lost anything; but if they answer yes, you have gained something. Be brave and just ask the question!

What do you like most about your job?

I love being back in the software/SaaS industry, as well as working for a startup. In the short time that I have been with SAIM, I have really enjoyed meeting and interacting with my coworkers. The people are great!

What element of the SAIM digital platform is most interesting to you?

As an accountant, it is incredibly interesting to learn about the maintenance and monitoring of tank farms and how crucial these functions are. The SAIM platform provides real-time data that the facilities can use to make decisions to support the tank farm functions.

What drew you to begin your position with SAIM?

Previously, I worked in the software industry for several  years, but more recently I had been working in a different industry. I am drawn to the culture and the vibe of the software industry. The environment tends to spur out-of-the-box thinking and is collaborative, and I am happy to say that SAIM possesses these characteristics.

Also, I have previously worked with Tina. She is very dynamic and has a vision for the company. To have an opportunity to work with her again was a no brainer.

In five words or less, describe what it’s like to work for SAIM.

Stimulating. Exciting. Rewarding. Team-centric.

Where can you be found when you’re not at work?

I am usually home or doing some activity with my husband and two dogs. I love to cook but can’t follow a recipe to save my life.

Thank you for your continued trust and support of SAIM. I’m in awe of our progress since I joined SAIM in the spring of 2021. The software and the company have experienced tremendous growth and transformation in a short time, and you, our clients and users, have played such a pivotal role.

In 2023, we are maintaining our pattern of growth. A year ago, we were live at 10 airports throughout the country. This year, we plan on deploying our software to at least 12 new commercial airport locations, extending our coverage to include 32 airports across the United States — a remarkable increase that I’m proud to highlight.

This expansion is happening while we work to enhance your experience with us and improve the products we offer you. We’ll increase our staff across the board, adding to our customer success, office support and technical/development teams. With this, we can improve our service and support for our clients, and importantly, our daily application users.

I’m really excited about the multifaceted customer success program we’re building out, which will include regular team calls with each location and enhanced training opportunities. We’re developing useful articles and short training videos that will be available on demand. We’re even working on a user certification program, which you’ll hear more about later this year.

In 2022, we held our inaugural SAIM CONNECT user conference, bringing together a network of industry professionals to embrace the power of data to inform the business of fuel. It proved extremely valuable, and we plan to make this year’s event even better, so I hope to see you in Chicago in April!

I expect big things from SAIM this year, and you should, too. As a company, we continue to invest in the internal systems and processes that will make doing business with us and using our platform even easier, supporting growth and helping us attain the highest level of customer satisfaction.

I’m committed to ensuring SAIM remains efficient and accountable in meeting our commitments to our clients and application users. I want to thank you again for being on this journey with us. We value the business of our current clients and look forward to earning the trust and business of those who have not yet begun using SAIM.

Sincerely,

Tina Lux-Boim
